The festivities in Brielle begin with the celebration of April 1. This day will be reenacted with an outdoor play. More info can be found at www.1aprilvereniging.nl.
Please note: On this day, downtown will be closed to all traffic from 08:00 to 19:00, as well as Battery Road. Make sure you are at or away from the site before 08:00! Only in case of emergencies will passage be granted.
To understand the origin of the 1-april celebration, we must go back to the time of the Spanish occupation in the Netherlands. It was a turbulent time, when the Dutch governments resisted Spanish rule. The Duke of Alva's mercenary army was deployed to suppress resistance, while the Reformation was in full swing. The April 1 celebration has had a rich and special history ever since.
There was also much movement in the religious sphere. The Reformation was in full swing, the hedgerow preachers acted and the iconoclasm hit the Netherlands (1566 in Brielle). Even the nobles were fed up: The king of Spain, Philip the Second, thought that the nobles should act harshly against heresy. The nobles put their heads together and drafted a writ demanding softening of the approach to heretics and abolition of the Inquisition.
We are in the process of inspecting all mobile homes for safety, especially with regard to gas. Most guests have already had an inspection, in which we inspect the flue, gas appliances, gas pressure, piping, central heating boiler and smoke/carbon monoxide meters, among other things. A common deficiency is the maintenance of the central heating boiler. As of April 1, 2023, the Gas Boiler Act is in effect, which requires, that central heating boilers be serviced annually by CO-certified companies. This is not only required by law, but also important for your own safety. So don't forget to have your central heating boiler checked annually!
Since everyone is now connected to gas, we kindly ask that you no longer place gas bottles around the caravan and return them as soon as possible.
We notice that there is sometimes inconvenience caused by a second car. Therefore, we would like to clarify again that an annual pitch entitles you to one numbered parking space. A second car (not a camper, caravan or trailer) can only be parked on the site if it does not cause a nuisance to other guests.
We are in the process of refurbishing the beach. In January we removed all the grass and in April special beach sand will be applied. In addition, there will be sunbeds for sunbathers! We are hoping for a sunny summer so that everyone can fully enjoy the renovated beach.
On Feb. 11, all of our employees refreshed their knowledge of CPR, AED operation, dressing and firefighting. Lunch was provided by the food café, so we enjoyed a delicious meal together. 😊
On February 12, Gert-Jan, Natasja, Ella, Albert and Margret visited the "Recreation Next Level" fair in Gorinchem. After the fair they had a nice dinner together. It was a pleasant afternoon!
On Wednesday, March 5, a beautiful new chalet was installed at Kievitshoek. We wish the new owners lots of fun with their chalet!
From April 4-7, there will be overlaps between work on the Spijkenisse Bridge and closures on the A15. This may lead to delays. Road users on the A15 have to reckon with a considerable extra travel time that can amount to an hour, especially on Friday March 28 and Friday April 4. Plan your trip well and take extra travel time into account.
Visit the Department of Public Works website for the most up-to-date information.
Adjust your transportation and travel behavior!
We ask everyone to adjust their travel behavior during the closures and avoid crowds.
